can’t bring myself to buy the #kindle version of a "224 page" book because it costs $17. what’s your personal price point for ebooks? [shifted]
diigo (feed #20)

The last chapter of the Networked Nonprofit is on networked governance. We thought this would be an easy part of the book to write – all we’d have to do is find examples of how boards online, opening up decisionmaking to outside influences. There were no examples – so the last chapter of the book is speculative, based on the best thinking of the people who have looked at networked governance. I dreamed up some scenarios of boards and social media in practice.

3. Getting information into Instapaper
4. Miscellaneous Instapaper extras online
5. iOS Instapaper app options and tips

This fall, we’ll be redesigning the Connect home page (the "dashboard") and the groups home page (what you see when you go to a group). I certainly have some ideas about what needs to change, but we really want to hear from you.
We need at least a half-dozen volunteers who are willing to work with the company doing the redesign to give input and answer questions via phone and email. If you’re interested in helping us make Connect even better, please leave a comment or contact me at jlevine [at] ala.org.

Women who sat for 6 or more hours per day had a 37% greater risk of death than women who sat less than 3 hours per day. Men who sat for 6 or more hours per day had an 18% greater risk of death than men who sat less than 3 hours per day. These results were identical even after adjustment for leisure time physical activity levels. This means that long periods of sitting were associated with increased risk of death, even if the people engaged in exercise during their leisure time. The following chart shows that sitting 6 or more hours per day was associated with a greater risk of death at all levels of physical activity in women. You can also see the progression in mortality risk as sitting time increases:
