2.1.3. The Joost Software will utilize the processor, bandwidth and hard drive (or other memory or storage hardware) and/or cache of your computer (or other applicable device) for the limited purpose of facilitating the communication between, and the transmittal of data, content, programming, services or features to, you and other Joost Software users, and to facilitate the operation of the network of computers running instances of the Joost Software.
They use your computers resources as well as your network’s resources to help send their content on to other Joost users (At least that is my take on their EULA). What do you make of this statement? As the Sys Admin here, it’s not getting installed without orders from above.

Hi, Dan - that’s pretty standard language for this type of application. You see it with software that requires high-bandwidth such as BitTorrent, so I’m not surprised. I don’t think Joost is a candidate for network installations unless the content has some kind of value to you (communications studies majors?), you teach courses on new media/2.0 tools, or you have an emerging technologies group who should be able to play with this type of service.
So I think you’re right to be concerned for your environment, but without a pressing need, I don’t think you’d be installing it anyway. Eventually, of course, this may change, so it’s good to re-evaluate every so often. Good that you read EULAs
